Alumni News October 2015

Dear ,

The year is flying by and it has been a busy few months for Alumni Relations at Curtin.

In August we hosted our first ever WAIT Alumni Reunion weekend. Over 260 alumni, staff and guests attended the opening dinner, keynoted by Perth Lord Mayor Lisa Scaffidi, and over 450 people attended the weekend celebrations overall. For many alumni, this was their first time reconnecting with fellow graduates and Curtin staff. We hope you all enjoyed the trip down memory lane!

In this issue we congratulate the Hon. Michaelia Cash, the first Curtin graduate appointed to Federal Cabinet. We also celebrate the achievements of Professor Zheng-Xiang Li, world-leading geoscience researcher in Curtin's Department of Applied Geology, who has received a $2.9 million Australian Laureate Fellowship from the Federal Government. The John Curtin Medallists for 2015 were announced at a ceremony on 7 October with Curtin alumnae Sian White and Dr Kaye Brand among the winners.

We have also got some amazing stories from three fellow alumni to share too.

Warm regards,

Erika Beazley
Manager, Alumni Relations
