Curtin alumni events around the world
The award-winning Malaysia chapter kicked-off 2016 with a gala dinner in January. Almost 50 alumni and special guests attended this fun-filled social event. The highlight of the evening was a presentation by Curtin alumnus and YouTube sensation, JinnyBoy.
In March, members of the chapter participated in The Putra Makna Run for Hope and Cancer Research at Stadium, UPM Sports Centre and Chancellery.
The chapter held its Annual General Meeting in April, voting in a new committee. The event also included a presentation on "Investing in Australia".
In July the chapter hosted a mid-year cocktail gathering, which was attended by representatives from Curtin, including Director of Advancement, Angela Bowman. The event included a talk delivered by Ms. Linnet Lee, CEO of the Financial Planning Association of Malaysia, who shared her wisdom and insights for optimising personal wealth and finances to achieve life goals in this challenging economic climate.
In August the chapter organised a Brewery Tour and Beer Tasting at the Tavern. And in September they hosted an Evening with Azran Osman-Rani. Azran, COO of iflix Group, spoke about how ideas ignited the creation of iflix and its impact on traditional TV.

In January, members of the Hong Kong Alumni Association, together with Curtin staff from the Humanities faculty, attended a welcome for New Colombo a Plan students, held at Australian Consul-General's residence.
The chapter held its Annual General Meeting in April, voting in a new committee led by Ms. Ruby Chiu.
In May the Hong Kong chapter hosted an Alumni Seminar and Wine Appreciation Evening and in July they organised a fun-filled family event at BOUCE in Kowloon.
The chapter finished the year with several popular seminars, including one on Career Advice for Recent Graduates, and another about Cyber Security.

In December 2015, the Singapore alumni chapter hosted a special screening of the new Star Wars movie.
The chapter held their Annual General Meeting in March and the committee is planning more exciting social and networking opportunities in 2016.
In July, Curtin’s Office of Advancement, in association with the Singapore chapter, hosted a mid-year networking event at The Study in Chinatown. The event was attended by more than 35 alumni and guests, who enjoyed an entertaining talk by Curtin alumnus and children’s TV presenter Mervyn Goh.
The chapter ended the year on a high note by organising a special screening of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

The chapter held its 2016 Annual General Meeting in February and the enthusiastic new committee have some exciting plans for Curtin alumni in Sri Lanka.
In July the chapter hosted a very special musical event, Padura with Curtin, a gathering of vibrant, active and energetic Sri Lankan alumni professionals. The event, which was a truly memorable experience in Sri Lankan music and entertainment, provided a great opportunity for alumni members to meet and reminisce about their days at SLIIT following Curtin University programs. The event was attended by several distinguished guests and special invitees, including Hon. Dayasiri Jayasekara, the Minister of Sports of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka.
The Sri Lanka alumni chapter is looking forward to facilitating more events and activities in the coming years to provide a platform for networking and knowledge sharing, as well as entertainment.
The chapter finished the year by organising the 2nd Annual Bowling Tournament, held on 3 December at Excel World Colombo. Graduates and Undergraduates alike participated in the tournament. The team comprising Dilanjan, Janitha and Sankalpa emerged Champions, followed by Isuru, Buddhima and Shayanthan in the 2nd place, Isham, Rakitha and Anjanaa in the 3rd place and Praveen, Rovin and Iruka in the 4th place. Isham was awarded the best player of the tournament. Prizes were courtesy of Curtin Alumni Sri Lanka Chapter and Dominos Pizza.
