Simon Haynes
Award winning Spacejock
Chances are that you or your children are reading one of Simon Haynes’ Hal Spacejock novels. Haynes holds an undergraduate degree in film & television and creative writing, and a Graduate Diploma in Computer Science from Curtin. The first novel in the Spacejock series was a Dymocks best seller: the second in the series was nominated for a West Australian Young Readers Book Award and the third book, Hal Spacejock – Just Desserts, won the WA Science Fiction Foundation award for best long work (novel). Hal Spacejock – No Free Lunch is his fourth and latest book in the humorous science fiction series. “One of my proudest achievements was to see my first novel on bookstore shelves everywhere I went,” Simon Haynes says. “Authors get a lot of knock-backs along the way, but I stuck with it. Having to write and revise work to present to my fellow students was great training for working with an editor and publisher.” Haynes also runs his own company which designs and distributes share market trading software.
